Wallander: Episodes 4-6

Product Description

A lifetime of police work has left Detective Kurt Wallander with the look of a man who's seen too much. In a spare and compelling performance, Krister Henriksson does justice to the complicated detective beloved by fans of the bestselling crime novels by Henning Mankell. True to the characterizations from the novels, the series depicts a police team in the seaside city of Ystad, Sweden, confronting the darkest recesses of the human heart. Veteran Detective Wallander works alongside his policewoman daughter Linda, who shares his instinct for crime solving and Stefan Lindman, a young detective eager to prove himself. Recently recovered from a heart attack, Wallander is making a desperate bid for balance in life. He's given up drinking, exercises and is trying to shore up a rocky relationship with his daughter. Pure love of the work is their common ground and the one arena in which they can show each other respect as equals.

A baby screams alone in an abandoned car along a highway. His father has disappeared and his mother lives in a catatonic state in a psych hospital. Because of Kurt's health issues, Linda has to take the lead on a case that brings her face to face with any parent's worst nightmare.

An African man lies dead in the car of a freight train that came from Ystad. Most of the evidence points to it being a race crime. But the investigation takes a surprising turn when the murder weapon is connected to one of Kurt's childhood friends who happens to be running for office on an anti-immigration platform.

Someone has infiltrated the Ystad police station, effectively closing it down for several critical hours. At the same time, Wallander is trying to understand the connection between the abduction of colleague Martinson's daughter and a woman found hanged. As they work the case, the two men start to behave like hunted animals themselves.
