Maigret: Set 6

Product Description

MAIGRET: SET 6
Sporting his pipe that seems a nod to Sherlock Holmes, the pragmatic, reserved and refined Maigret investigates murders in his singular unhurried manner and inevitably discovers the truth. To crack his cases he peels back the veneer of seemingly idyllic villages and neighborhoods, exposing the criminals who lurk in all levels of society. Against a backdrop of 1950s Paris and the surrounding French countryside, these original feature-length films pay homage to one of the most brilliant detective minds of the twentieth century.

EPISODE 31 -  FIRST CLASS MURDER
A man is stabbed to death with a hat pin in a first-class train car near the Franco-Belgian border. Novice inspector Paul Lachenal gets called in to investigate, but he’s no fool; he goes straight to his uncle Maigret for assistance.

EPISODE 32 -  MAIGRET SEES DOUBLE
Working with his nephew on the investigation of the murder of a seemingly ordinary accountant, Maigret finds that the man’s life was not at all as simple as would appear on the surface.

EPISODE 33 -  MAIGRET AND THE RICH
Foreboding letters keep arriving at the mansion of an aristocratic family and Maigret begins to look into them.  His investigation leads him to discover that wealth doesn’t necessarily bring intimacy; members of a family can live very isolated lives under the same roof.

EPISODE 34 -  MAIGRET AND THE FORTUNE HUNTER
Maigret tracks down a woman connected with a jewel theft, but by the time he gets to her she’s been strangled in a stable next to a canal lock. He  sequesters all the canal bargemen as well as the victim’s husband, who happened to be sailing by in his yacht with an entourage at the time of the murder

EPISODE 35 -  MY FRIEND MAIGRET
While an inspector from Scotland Yard is staying with Maigret to observe his methods, Maigret receives word from the island of Porquerolles... of the murder of an ex-con who claims to have been his friend.  None of it makes sense for Maigret, who needs to find out if and how some of the locals are involved.

EPISODE 36 -  MAIGRET AND THE OPEN WINDOW
A man who owed a lot of people money is thought to have committed suicide when his lifeless body is discovered moments after a shot is fired. Subtle clues lead Maigret to suspect homicide, but he’ll be hard pressed to prove it.
